Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy . As a clarification to the information provided on page 1323 in Table 2 regarding the recommended doses of beta-blockers, the authors have submitted the following statement: "For metoprolol, atenolol, and propranolol, reasonable starting doses are 25 mg twice daily, 50 mg once daily, and 40 mg twice daily, respectively. The maximum recommended total daily doses of these agents in patients with angina pectoris are 400 mg, 100 mg, and 320 mg, respectively. However, in our own practice, we have found that larger doses of beta-blockers are frequently necessary to control symptoms in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, . . .
