We live in the era of the Human Genome Project, human and mousegenetics, proteomics, evidence-based medicine, intelligent drugdesign, and a new "road map" for the National Institutes ofHealth (NIH) that relies on multidisciplinary, translationallydirected teams of basic scientists and clinicians focused onspecific goals related to human health.
