To the Editor: Osterberg and Blaschke (Aug. 4 issue)¹ discuss interventions that can be used to improve adherence to medication regimens. However, I am surprised that they do not include interventions by pharmacists among the recommendations in Table 3 of their article, which listed strategies for improving adherence.

The article does highlight pharmacist-led interventions for HIV infection as a promising area. The involvement of pharmacists has also been demonstrated to improve adherence or compliance in the management of hypertension,² lowering of lipid levels,³ and the treatment of depression in patients.⁴ Furthermore, a set of billing codes, which are in compliance . . .
