To the Editor: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is expensive and time-consuming, and it involves risks. From a Bayesian perspective,¹ the use of MRI at term equivalent in preterm infants, as reported by Woodward et al. (Aug. 17 issue),² is useful only if the results lead to revision of the pretest probability of neurodevelopmental impairment to a level above or below the threshold for follow-up or early intervention in infants at high risk.
