The importance of this book to all of us who are involved in the care of older patients with cancer is evident from the first page of the preface. Currently in the United States, more than 50% of all cancers occur in the 12% of people who are 65 years of age or older. By the year 2030, this group will represent 20% of the U.S. population and will account for 70% of all cases of cancer.
