Release from Prison — A High Risk of Death for Former Inmates . The second sentence of the first paragraph should have read "At the end of 2001, there were approximately 5.6 million adults who had ever been incarcerated in a state or federal prison,² not including stays in local jails," rather than "At the end of 2001, approximately 5.6 million adults were incarcerated in a state or federal prison" as printed.
