To the Editor: Fan et al. (Aug. 10 issue)1 compared genetic predictors of breast-cancer recurrence in a retrospective microarray data set that was previously used to discover four of the five predictors — the only exception being the ratio of the levels of expression of homeobox 13 (HOXB13) and interleukin 17B receptor (IL17BR) (the two-gene ratio). They found that the two-gene ratio did not predict recurrence.
