Presentation of Case

A 46-year-old woman was seen in the orthopedic oncology clinic of this hospital because of pain in the right hip and leg. Several months earlier, pain had developed in her right upper medial thigh and had gradually increased in intensity despite treatment with ibuprofen, pantoprazole, and acetaminophen–codeine. Four weeks before this evaluation, she was seen at another facility. On examination, her vital signs were normal; her height was 156.2 cm, and her weight 44.5 kg.
