To the Editor: We report on a patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus,diagnosed at 16 years of age, in whom widespread amyloid depositsdeveloped many years later in transplanted human islets. Theislets were administered through three intraportal infusions:two infusions were administered 4 months apart when the patientwas 50 years of age, and one infusion was administered whenhe was 54 years of age.
